Solution Plan:​​ 

Creative experiences can help children express and cope with feelings. Creativity also fosters mental growth in children by providing opportunities for trying out new ideas, and new ways of thinking and problem-solving.

  • Spend time outdoors​​ as​​ nature is ever changing, it provides opportunities for discovery, creativity, and problem solving. This will assist children to think and ask questions to develop creative minds. Children can draw in sand, make designs with twigs, build forts with branches.​​ 

  • Invent​​ scenarios​​ encourage​​ child to playhouse, doctor,​​ dentist,​​ veterinarian,​​ astronaut, teacher. Join in the imaginative play by taking on a role. Play with stuffed toys or puppets (make simple puppets by putting your hand in a sock).​​ 

  • "I Spy" or making up lyrics to common tunes, verbal interactive activities can inspire and nurture creative minds.​​ Additionally, these activities build vocabulary and help​​ the​​ child learn phonics.​​ 

  • Art​​ is creative expression that nurtures imagination.​​ Through painting, sculpture, collage, clay​​ or drawing​​ art is a way for children to work through emotions, make decisions, and express ideas. Art activities develop fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.​​ ​​ art activities build confidence because children gain a sense of mastery over materials resulting in a new creation.​​ 

  • Literacy​​ Make​​ reading fun​​ and discuss other possible scenarios or endings for the story by using​​ the​​ child's imagination.​​ 

  • Ask open-ended and thought-provoking questions.​​ Asking questions that provoke imaginative and creative​​ thinking is an effective way to invite​​ the​​ child to express ideas and share visions, while giving the message that ideas are important.​​ 

  • Limit screen time (television, movies, computer, tablet, smart phone, handhelds, video games)

  • Remember to allow for down time.​​ Unstructured, unscheduled time allows children opportunities to imagine and create.​​
